I would think 1978 cause the small pad in the front of the engine is the smaller square shape not the longer more narrow older style pad for 1968. The pad is smooth so theres no engine codes. L82 SERIES 350 cu in. USED FROM 1970-1972.I got a freebee block that I am trying to sell but I nned to ID it first. The casting number is 3970010, and the code stamp/suffix is V0709HV. From what I found the casting number indicates it is 1969-79 350ci for a car, truck, or Vette. But then the suffix code indicates it was built July 09, 1965 and is from a 327ci Vette.However, the block casting # tells the true tale, that # is a 4" bore block used to make '69 302, '68-69 327, and the most common use--'69-80 350. This # 3970010 eliminates the possibility of it being a 305, so it looks like you have a 1974 350.
